EVERY YEAR ON THE ALTO ADIGE MOUNTAIN SLOPES, ON ONE SUNDAY EVENING IN JUNE, EVOCATIVE PATTERNS OF FIRE ARE LIT THAT REPRESENT THE HEART OF JESUS.

This year the event will be on the 9^th June 2024. 

On the Sacred Heart Feast a typical dinner will be served at dusk on the mountains, from where you will be able to enjoy the sight of the surrounding peaks lit by a wonderful firework show.

Walk up to our mountain hut or take the cable car before 5.30 p.m.

You can stay the night or take a walk down in the moonlight or with a flashlight.

The origins of these famous Sacred Heart fires date back to a time long ago...

It was in 1796, when the Tyrolean region was threatened by the Bavarians, who at the time were closely linked to Napoleon and the French troops, that the people of Tyrol asked for the help of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Sacred Heart saved them and to thank him they lit huge fires on top of the hills and mountains.

And this spectacular tradition carries on even today, every year on the first Sunday after Corpus Christi around the Middle of June.

To best experience this event, we look forward to welcoming you at high altitude where you can admire the evocative fires which are lit on each surrounding mountain.
