THE FIRES OF THE SACRED HEART
Every year, on the slopes of South Tyrol, fires representing the Sacred Heart of Jesus light up the night — a tradition that dates back to 1796, when the Tyrolean people asked for divine protection against Bavarian threats. This annual event takes place on the first Sunday after Corpus Christi, and this year it will be on June 14, 2026. The refuge offers a typical dinner at sunset to admire the illuminated peaks. It is possible to reach the refuge on foot or by cable car before 5:30 PM, with the option to stay overnight or descend on foot under the moonlight.
