The Trottner’s families suggest two or three overnight stays with the following excursions:

1. Day: KÖLNER HUT – SANTNER– GARTL– VAIOLET HUT – « PAS DE LE CORONELE »
WALKING TIME: about 5 h
Follow path n. 542, until you reach the “Santner” ferrata and the “Santner” Hut (2734 m) (medium difficulty). Then go on to “Gartl” Hut (2627 m) at foot of the Vaiolet towers and then to “Vaiolet” Hut (2243 m). From here take the path n. 541 to “Pas de le Coronele” (2630 m) and then follow the path n. 550 to Kölner Hut.

2. Day: KÖLNER HUT – “PAS DEL VAIOLON”– “RODA DE VAEL” FERRATA – “MAJARÉ” FERRATA – ROTWAND HUT - WALKING TIME: about 6 h
Follow path n. 549 and then n. 551 until you reach the “Pas del Vaiolon” (2549 m). Continue on to the “Roda de Vael” ferrata (easy difficulty) and from here you can take the “Majaré” ferrata (medium difficulty) or you can come down to the“Rotwand” Hut (2316 m). From path n. 549 you arrive back at our hut.

3. Day: EXCURSION AROUND ROSENGARTEN - WALKING TIME: about 5 h
Follow path n. 550 to the “Pas de le Coronele” (2630 m), from here go down the steep slope to the crossroad. At this point turn right on path n. 541, which brings you to the “Pas de le Zigolade” (2552 m) and then downhill to the “Rotwand” Hut. Following path n. 549, you will pass the Monument of Christomannos (bronze Adler), erected in memory of Theodor Christomannos, Doctor from Meran, of Greek origins and promoter of the tourist development of the Dolomites. Remain on the same path until you reach our hut.

The Kölner Hut belongs to the “Dolomites-Trekking 1” , which includes seven mountain excursions and six nights accommodations in the following huts: Kölner Hut, Schlernhaus Hut, Tierser Alpl Hut, Plattkofel Hut, Langkofel Hut and Vaiolet Hut.
